We're thrilled to announce that our submission to the IBPA Benjamin Franklin Awards came in as a finalist in the FICTION: Mystery & Thriller category.
This is a win, not just for the Brooklyn Writers Press but also for our authors, and especially, for Roger Canaff who wrote the winning submission. Roger's book titled Bleed Through is the 2nd in the Alex Greco ADA series. We couldn't be happier to represent such a talented writer and are deeply indebted to him.
We would also like to take a moment to acknowledge the talented people on our production team. They're the ones who really help turn words on a page into a book readers will love. Another debt of gratitude to Mark Thwaites for the cover design. Simona Meloni for the interior layout/design and formatting and the editing team over at Dartfrog Books.
This win represents so much more than the final gold or silver award designation. That designation will not be announced until May 2020. For Marina Aris, the founder of the Brooklyn Writers Press, this win represents a six-year journey to building a hybrid press capable of producing books to professional standards.
"As a life-long reader and lover of books I knew I wasn't going to go into independent publishing to produce sub-standard results. I've always strived for how best to produce books that are indistinguishable from those produced traditionally. The press is still young but every year it's stretching toward the next possible milestone."
- Marina Aris, Founder, Brooklyn Writers Project
A final note of gratitude goes to the IBPA, Independent Book Publishers Association. Not only for helping to shine the light on successfully published indie titles but also for their dedication to creating and setting professional standards and building a community for independent publishers like the Brooklyn Writers Press.
